You will get one Ancient Roman City in Croatia.

    1. Find all the information’s about that city (pictures, basic information’s….).
    2. Then develop a map that shows the layout of that Roman city under Roman rule. After you have developed a map you can locate photographs or draw sketches of the sites marked on your map.
    3. When you finish map you will be hired by a Roman travel agency to guide us through your city. You will answer the questions as well as those about the city and those about you. You will have to present us a certain aspect of your everyday life that has been assigned to you. Pick a name (Roman one!) of a character you’ll present, how old is he or she, what’s he/she eating, who are his/her friends… Also make three objects that will represent your character (everyday things your character would use, like a makeup if you are a woman or a sword if you are a legionar). Make sure you don’t forget to cite your resources!
  • 29 September - 5 October

After you have researched links given above, you have to write a short essay. The title is One day of my life. You should describe one day in your character`s life in Roman city you have been assigned.

Since a narrative relies on personal experiences, it often is in the form of a story. When the writer uses this technique, he or she must be sure to include all the conventions of storytelling: plot, character, setting, climax, and ending. It is usually filled with details that are carefully selected to explain, support, or embellish the story. All of the details relate to the main point the writer is attempting to make.

         To summarize, the narrative essay

    • is told from a particular point of view
    • makes and supports a point
    • is filled with precise detail
    • uses vivid verbs and modifiers
    • uses conflict and sequence as does any story
    • may use dialogue

    Some other tips:

Things to Consider as You Write Your Descriptive Essay

    • Think of an instance that you want to describe.

    • Why is this particular instance important?

    • What were you doing?

    • What other things were happening around you? Is there anything specific that stands out in your mind?

    • Where were objects located in relation to where you were?

    • How did the surroundings remind you of other places you have been?

    • What sights, smells, sounds, and tastes were in the air?

    • Did the sights, smells, sounds, and tastes remind you of anything?

    • What were you feeling at that time?

    • Has there been an instance in which you have felt this way before?

    • What do you want the reader to feel after reading the paper?

    • What types of words and images can convey this feeling?

    • Can you think of another situation that was similar to the one you are writing about? How can it help explain what you are writing about?

    • Is there enough detail in your essay to create a mental image for the reader?
    • 6 October - 12 October

Visit the site given! Practice your presentation at home. Think of the questions visitors could ask you and try to find the answers. Your final grade depends on: 1. Effort you have put in this project, 2. Presentation skills (you can answer all the questions, your voice during the tour is clear, you are confident, facts you are giving are correct), 3. Look of the map you have made (it has all the elements of Roman City, it is made based on information you had about assigned Roman City in Croatia).

Make sure you can locate it on the map! Look attachment!

Don`t forget to cite the resources!

      • 3 November - 9 November

We are making a time-line of events in Croatian Medieval history.

        1. Read the text that the teacher has provided you.

        2. Highlight in the text the events in Croatian medieval history that you find most important.

        3. Create a time-line of the chosen events. The time-line has to be interesting, accurate and has to mark important events that belong in that year. After you are done, print it out.

        • 10 November - 16 November

        • 17 November - 23 November

          1. From the time line choose an event you find most interesting or relevant. Describe it and try to find historical artifacts that are connected to that historical event. Answer the questions like: what led to this event? Under what circumstances did it happened. What happened after?

          2. Choose one historical person from the event you are describing and role play him/her. Imagine you are that person and describe this event through his eyes. Explain who are you, what is your status, why are you important... Explain us the event and how you are going to solve the situation.

          3. Jing it! Narrate your time line, event and person.

If you feel you have done your best and that your presentation is finished, start working on your Language project - survival Croatian.  As this is your class project, all of you have to agree in which format you are going to work in and how are you going to put it all together in a publication that is cohesive and legible.

                                        Be good!
