In Grade 1, the program focuses on language exposure, learning vocabulary groups and remembering ready structures. French is used for most class communication. By the end of the first grade, the students will have learned (will understand, some will be able to speak and independently produce) about 200 vocabulary items.  Themes include numbers, colors, animals, fruit and vegetables, food items, parts of the house, body parts, classroom objects, days of the week, months, weather, and seasons. The choice of songs includes traditional and didactic ones. The program incorporates francophone culture holidays and traditions.  We meet four times per week, 30 minutes each class.
