Jan. 13 - 19: Students will be completing semester one study guide and working on Greece or Renaissance/Reformation overview newspaper.

Next week Mr. Fisher, our new student teacher will be leading lessons in both my class and Mr. Soldo's classes.

Jan. 27 - 31: **Mr. Fischer will be covering the units: Age of Discovery / Scientific Revolution / Enlightenment**
The same lessons will be taught simultaneously in both 9.1 & 9.2 as well as the same assessments being given. Mr. Fischer will be participating in team planning meetings with Mr. Soldo and myself. He will be full time teaching for the rest of January and the month of February.

Feb. 3 - 7: Mr. Fischer will introduce the unit: Discovery / Scientific Revolution / Enlightenment using a powerpoint presentation, video clip, reading from the text and class discussion. Students will choose an important person of the Enlightenment and create a short 5-10 minute presentation on this person while the rest of the class takes notes.

Feb. 10 - 14: Mr. Fischer will continue the unit on Discovery / Scientific Revolution / Enlightenment. Reteach important details on giving presentations, sifting through unimportant details, knowing information well enough to not have to read it. Students will present specific information dealing with enlightenment discoveries/inventions. Notes will be taken.

Feb. 17 - 23: Mr. Fischer will continue unit Discovery / Scientific Revolution / Enlightenment using various powerpoint presentations, book resources and texts. This week he will wrap up these units. Final unit exam will be Monday, March 3rd.

**WE ARE DONE WITH EXPLORATION / SCIENTIFIC REVOLUTION / ENLIGHTENMENT UNIT**
**WE ARE BEGINNING OUR UNIT ON THE FRENCH REVOLUTION**
Monday is the final exam over Exploration / Scientific Revolution / Enlightenment. We will then begin our unit on The French Revolution introducing the unit this week.

March 10 - 14: We are continuing with the French Revolution. This week we will continue through our text document and discuss social challenges, divine right, nobility of the sword and robe. Students will complete a task dealing with the social structure of AISZ and compare this with the social structure of France during the time of the revolution. We will also spend time discussing and debating the issue of national debt, specifically the French Royal Budgets of the 1770's and 1790's. National debt essay is due Monday, March 17th.

March 17 - 21: This week we will continue the French Revolution. We will discuss political changes in France and continue with the financial crisis as well as discuss foreign wars. The national debt essay is due on Wednesday.

March 24 - 28: We are continuing our unit on the French Revolution. This week we will look closely at the storming of the Bastille. We will also compare/contrast the Declaration of Independence with the Declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizen. Two source based questions will be assigned and are due on Wednesday. We will move on to discussing political clubs during the French Revolution and their role. We will begin working on a project dealing with this.

March 31 - April 4: We are continuing our unit on the French Revolution. Newspaper article about Storming the Bastille is due on Monday, March 31st. We will cover "Declaration of Rights and other constitutions" as well as "political/revolutionary clubs/factions" this week. Students will begin creating a pamphlet on political clubs which is due on Friday.

April 7 - 11: We are continuing our unit on The French Revolution. This week we will finish our pamphlet on political clubs. We have a library assembly during class which will take up some time, so we might push our lessons back a day this week. TBA. Read text pages 32-33 and discussion point 1/2 page paper due after break.

April 21 - 25: We are continuing our unit on the French Revolution and Napoleon. We will continue our reading and discussion on Revolutionary Culture and Bonaparte's Rise. Page 33 discussion point 1/2 page essay is due on Monday, as well as page 35 source questions #2 & 4 due on Wednesday. Friday a 3/4 page essay dealing with supporting or opposing Napoleon's expedition to Egypt in 1789 is due.

May 5 - 9: This week we will finish up reading and discussing Napoleon. We will review all information and text read dealing with the French Revolution in preparation for our semester unit exam, which will deal with many facets of this unit as well as Napoleon.
