This two-year beginner course will not only expand student’s cognitive and analytical abilities, but it will also foster communication with other speakers of the language as well intercultural awareness. The linguistic skills targeted are reading, writing, speaking and listening. In this course, students will learn, consolidate and expand vocabulary and grammar skills and will perform a variety of language acts (such as recounting stories and writing invitations.) Language skills will be developed through the use of a wide range of materials. All lessons will be conducted in the target language as much as possible.

The following topic areas are used to address the linguistic skills of reading, writing, speaking and listening: the individual, education and work, town and services, food and drink, leisure and travel, the environment, and health and emergencies.
