This two-year advanced course will not only expand students’ cognitive and analytic abilities, but it will also foster communication with other speakers of the language at a fairly sophisticated level. Students will also gain an awareness of and sensitivity to elements of the cultures where the language is spoken. The main focus of the course is on language acquisition and the development of the four primary language skills: reading, writing, speaking and listening. These aims are carried out over the two years through a variety of topics such as international issues, social groupings and the media. A wide range of resources will be used, including contemporary materials as well as poetry and literature. In this course students are given opportunity to develop their confidence and self-expression, and are encouraged to become independent learners. All lessons will be conducted in the target language.
