The TOK course is a flagship component of the IB Diploma Program, and as such it encourages critical thinking about knowledge itself, to try to help students make sense of what they encounter. What makes TOK unique, and distinctively different from standard academic disciplines, is its process. At the center of the course is the student as knower. Students having accumulated a vast amount of knowledge through their life experiences and formal education, are given the opportunity to step back form the relentless acquisition of new knowledge, in order to critically consider knowledge issues.
