                  • 31 December - 6 January

                    • 7 January - 13 January

Welcome back and Happy New Year!   For those that check the mathematics SAT questions, my son informs me that 2013 is the first year since 1987 in which none of the numbers are repeated!

Speaking of puzzles and games, (see how I did that transition?), instead of the usual SAT quiz I've come up with a game in which you have to make use of vocabulary found in the SAT quizzes.

We’ll try it out in class today, Monday 7th.  The rules are below.

Now onto the serious stuff. You need to have your research paper mostly written by now as the deadline for completion approaches.  Additionally we’ll spend time this week reviewing  homework and completing this units exercises.

I would also like to spend time with you looking at your SAT tests (who has/is taking it?)  as well as your college essay. I'll have these in class for you on the 7th.

                      Mr. G.

Rules of the SAT word game (if you can come up with a better name, let me know).

                      Rules of the game

To begin with, everyone is given three words

                      1. Pick a ‘topic’ from the pile and show this to the rest of the group.
                      2. Next, choose a word from the word pile. Do not show this to anyone else.
                      3. Make up a sentence or short story about the topic in which you use the word you have picked. You will have 90 seconds to make up your ‘story’
                      4. After telling the story, the next person in the group tries to guess the word from the word pile you used. If they guess correctly, you have to keep the word.  If incorrect, they have to pick up a new word from the word pile.
                      5. The aim is to lose all your words but to make it harder for the ‘guesser’, you can ‘hide’ your word in sentences which include other words from the word pile.

                      • 14 January - 20 January

Hi and welcome to the snow!

If you weren't able to make it in today, never fear as the tasks for this week are here.

Take a look at the slides to keep up to date.

Importanant reminder:  Our 'exam' will be in class and on Wednesday 23rd January.  See attached slides for more information.
