    September 5th. 2011. Hi and Welcome Grade 7 to our Middles Ages Moodle Site. We'll use this to post progress and updates (great if you miss a class or need a reminder). We'll also have homework and assignments posted here. Here's a little about our course on P.s.     'The Medieval World and Beyond'

    Students explore the time period beginning with the fall of the Roman Empire through to the Early Modern Period

    We also study concepts of:

    • Culture

    • Time, Continuity, and Change

    • People, Places and Environments

    • Individual Development and Identity

    • Individuals, Groups, and Institutions

    • Power, Authority, and Governance

    • Production, Distribution, and Consumption

    • Science, Technology, and Distribution

    • Global Connections

    • Civic Ideals and Practices

    Here are the 8 main topics for the year:

    1. Europe During Medieval Times

    2. The Rise of Islam

    3. The Culture and Kingdoms of West Africa

    4. Imperial China

    5. Japan During Medieval Times

    6. Civilizations of the Americas

    7. Europe’s Renaissance and Reformation
    8. Europe Enters the Modern Age

    Assessment for the course will involve:

    Students  comparing the different  cultures of the middle ages, analyzing progression towards the Renaissance in Europe and the Age of Discovery.

    They will make a range of artifacts demonstrating understanding (such as their own book or diary as a record of a period).

    They will be given regular homework which will test their understanding of some of the key aspects taught in class.
